Situated in a secluded valley at the end of a country road and bordered by park wilderness on three sides, activities such as hiking, skiing, rock climbing and mountain biking are available, all from our doorstep. For skiing/hiking enthusiasts, we’re fortunate to be located at the start of the Jackrabbit ski trail, a thirty mile path that winds its way through some of the Adirondack’s most striking terrain. And for rock climbers, the always enjoyable Bark Eater cliffs are just a short hike from our lodges.
New for 2026 – As we continually strive to make our guest’s stay at Rock and River even more enjoyable, we’ve added a 1 – 1.5 mile scenic hike/snowshoe through the woods and slopes surrounding our property. Complete with a leanto, mountain views and our favorite “Bear Claw Tree”, this short hike is an excellent option for arrival or departure day when a quick stretch of the legs is in order.
Our two buildings – The Climber’s Lodge and The Guide’s House, are fully furnished and available to rent by groups (see lodging rates). Families, clubs and friends can rent either or both buildings. For further availability information, call or go to our News and Updates button on our Home Page.
The Climber’s Lodge was built in 1990 from the original homestead’s barn and has three private rooms, a bunkroom with six single beds (no upper bunks!), an indoor climbing wall, free high-speed wireless internet, a kitchen, as well as a central living room complete with a great stone fireplace. Rental of the Climber’s Lodge also includes exclusive use of our nearby Riverside Leanto and fire pit. This building sleeps up to twelve and is strictly a group rental facility.
The Guide’s House was built in 1992 with a two room addition (deluxe, family-sized rooms) added in 2001. This building has six rooms, several decks, a large dining room, TV room, game room (with ping-pong and foosball) and free high-speed wireless internet in private rooms as well as public areas. This building sleeps up to fourteen and is strictly a group rental facility.
Family reunions and other special events can be arranged.
